The OR (Light) project is an innovative intervention model used in Israel and all over the world based on eight years of research. It was conducted in the city of Be’er Sheva and included 34 elementary schools. The participants were 247 teachers and about about 3,000 students. The project was based on the RTI model and included professional development of teachers, detection of struggling readers, understanding the different profiles of students identified as struggling readers, and providing them with adapted intervention program in small groups. The OR intervention program was developed to enhance the reading and reading comprehension skills of struggling second to third graders.
