The Island of Understanding Project
Research-Based Classroom Intervention for Fourth and Fifth Graders

Welcome to the Island of Understanding, where learning comes to life in a thrilling adventure!

Our intervention program, specially designed for grades 4-5, is accompanied by a teacher training program to help educators integrate literacy, nature, values, and social-emotional learning in their teaching.

Imagine taking your class on a journey to a deserted island, where they will learn how to survive in the wild while improving their language skills and reading comprehension. Our program combines the three axes of literacy, socio-emotional learning, and values to provide a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.

Our program is tailored to each learner, with personalized intervention based on individual computerized assessments. With research-based pedagogy and a variety of activities that include books, games, and videos, we use gamification and technological tools to make learning fun and effective. Our team of experts in the field, guided by leading researchers, provide training and support to teachers and language coordinators to improve the identification and treatment of learning difficulties.

The Island of Understanding has already helped thousands of students across the country, with findings showing significant improvements in reading comprehension, reading fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and use of learning strategies, and a sense of competence and a decrease in reading anxiety compared to the control group. And teachers who participated in the teacher training showed an increase in knowledge and a sense of personal competence.

Join us on the Island of Understanding and discover the thrill of learning in a whole new way!
